Jonbu the baker

i’m so slow

I got Blue Dragon :D

bluedragon

Got it on sale too. Zellers is great. Right before I left home for some shopping, I read it up on metacritics and decided I won’t get it. score of 78. Meh. But when I saw that it’s in stock, auto-drive kicked in and I bought it within a minute.

Hironobu Sakaguchi’s latest masterpiece. Not an epic but still a pretty high quality game. Plus, it’s a good break from the American-designed shooters I’ve been playing. Lots of repetitive game play at the beginning (fight the same type of robot 10+ times? Individually?) But somehow it didn’t bore me out. 1.5hrs in. We’ll see how it goes.

Gotta write

Since I installed that blog-stats plug-in, I’ve been able to see what search terms lead people to my site. I thought it’d be a nice gesture to answer some of these searches, since, you came here looking for these things.

aluminum imac review

I’ve also seen Aluminium with an i, which I think is the right spelling, since the new iMac does look very European to me.
Aside from what I’ve already wrote, Here’re some more tidbits:
- One day my mac woke up for no apparant reason. Later on I found out it’s because of my neighbour cousin’s bluetooth device.
- The speakers sound better after breaking in (If you believe the “breaking-in” business), but I use seperate speakers.
- I really have no problems with the reflections at all. Some people say they get headaches.

japanese spelling for the name baker

funny teacher stories

My Japanese teacher drove like a maniac. She drove a Lexus.

Kudos for everyone that refuses to use the Shift key.

O yeah, I blog

Recently I bump into coworkers a lot. It’s like work never ends. I suppose since I live near work, I’m bound to bump into people that live here for work too.

Go to IKEA driving around for parking spot? coworker. Scroll around the kids section of IKEA? same coworker.
Go down to Gary Point park to catch some fish, I mean sunset? DOUBLE coworkers separately with their families. One called me by the wrong name, and the other one I called by the wrong name two days ago.

My office mate lives half a block from me. I’m bound to see him somewhere someday.

Saw 3 guys with dSLRs there. They were all there for the sunset I bet.

Spell-check is great. I mis-type words all the time now. And I don’t care because anywhere I type, there’s a spellchecker working. I google with the wrong words, I type emails with bad spelling, IMs, blog, … So it becomes very frustrating when there’s no spellchecker, like, the TERMINAL, cuz technology has molded me into a person unable to spell. And with words I spell, I make typos all tje time.

The firefox spellchecker has “add to dictionary” right below the corrected word choice, so if you’re not careful, or have shaky hands like me, you’d be mis-spelling words forever once you add it to the dictionary. Luckily this
guy has the solution
in case it ever happens.

The New Aluminum iMac Review continued

I did say I’d write more about it.

I got the 20inch model. Keeping it modest. A 24inch would look like a 2001: A Space Oddassy Monolith in my room. I’d be jumping around it like the monkeys, which is fine. The problem is it’d eclipse my TV.

These sites gave me a lot of good info:

The MacInTouch Aluminum iMac Page

The MacRumors Forum

Not that I made good use of those info tho. I ordered one right after Steve (Jobs) convinced me via the intertubes, and before I started reading anything about it. The 20inch LCD panel downgrade was a sad surprise to me. I hope they made up for it somewhere else in the system.

People have major concerns that they talk about in those forums:

Very Glossy Screen:

The screen is actually made of a glossy LCD panel covered by a plate of glass. If you look closely you can see two reflections in the display. The glare actually isn’t bad at all for me. I hide in a dark room and never see the sunlight. I tell the local weather by checking the weather widget.

Poor Viewing Angle:

The angle itself doesn’t concern me. It’s the color shift wrt the angle that’s saddening. Too bad there’s no panel upgrade option. Solution: Keep your head stationary when using the imac, and when you see someone looking at your screen over your shoulder, let them know they’re looking from the wrong angle. Also, it’s a good chance to punch them in the face if you never really liked them.

Actually, the screen might be a “downgrade”, but it’s still very nice. Don’t fret over it too much. (talking to self)

What else?..

The keyboard can potentially make you type faster, once you get used to it.
The remote doesn’t stick anywhere. As a result I don’t know where mine went. ( ok good, found it)

Mighty mouse is cute.
The machine itself is sleek. Aluminum is a good heat conductor.

Someday they gotta invent Wireless Power so there’s zero wires needed.

Ooh hungry.

The Flintstones

We have a loud neighbour in the back of the house. They keep their windows open so we hear all their yelling. The mom is a superB, and the dad is more submissive. The kids have gotten used to all the commotions so when they were yelled at, they respond calmly as if they filtered out the yelling.

” &^%#@&*#$ LETS GOOOOO!$#%”

“alright mom, remember the keys.”

They keep a dog that’s just as loud. And they sometimes yell at the dog.
Just now a dog went into their house (their dog, or a stranger dog, I dunno), and lots of yelling happened. First it was the mom, and then the dad joined in. Stuff knocking over, sounds chaotic.
