After watching that Japanese Tofu-delivery movie, it felt fitting to make yakitori for dinner. Good thing today is a holiday. More time to spend on things like this.
Made with George Foreman Grill – but I don’t recommend the grill. It’s always a pain to clean up. Unless the newer version has removable grille..
Yakitori is one of those things that doesn’t have any secrets. It is what you see, unlike Ramen, or Hot Dogs. And when you go to the store, you pay for their labour and service, not so much on their secret formula – although they do have one bucket of secret BBQ soy sauce blend if you order the Tare flavoured skewers.
I got some Japanese Mapo Tofu mix and had it for dinner. All you add is ground meat and tofu!
From Wikipedia:
Ma stands for “mazi” (Pinyin: mázi Traditional Chinese 麻子,) which means a person disfigured by pockmarks. Po (Chinese 婆) translates as “old woman”. Hence, Ma Po is an old woman whose face was pockmarked.
Elegantly put. Wikipedia.
I spent $175 at Costco today. All foods, no gadgets. There was a wireless oven thermometer that would tell you (remotely) when your roast is ready. Good blend of geekiness + momness. I almost got it, but bro said no. I listen to him.
The new shipment of coke came with this really nice design on the cans. I liked it enough to take pictures of it while everyone else started eating.
If you go to the Coke website, while the site it self is pretty bad ( it’s spinning itself in the background as I type this), they have a pretty good designer-ish graphical theme going on right now. Nice wallpapers. Almost like the new Paul McCartney iPod commercial you can find on the iTunes website. Apple does it better tho.
Speaking of Apple.. It’s that time of year again where I consider getting the white notebook (ibook, now macbook) + ipod deal. Forth year in a row now, I think. Maybe it’s a ritual I’ll continue for years to come. They look really nice as long as you don’t go to the store and touch one.
A piece of bread I drew for the favicon. You get to see it now in higher definition. Sort of like buying an HDTV after watching standard all your life.

Plus it’s the first picture here to use Shirley’s Wetfloor Plugin.
Told you I’m a baker.
