I have a problem on my Mac. It’s minor, but it’s there.
Look! The dock has disappeared, leaving only the reflection, and the fanned out icons are not visible.
The problem doesn’t bug me much because I don’t use the Fan much, but that’s partially because it didn’t work long enough for me to try it.
So far as I know there’s no sure solution to this. A restart usually make it go away for a while. The best I could find is the Apple Discussion Thread here, or here (someone in there suggests a corrupt file in the Downloads folder might cause this). I’ve also read that technical support would suggest you resetting the PRAM and NVRAM. Maybe I’ll try that.
I like how the glassy dock looks tho.
[UPDATE]
On Feb.11 2008 Apple released the Leopard 10.5.2 Software Update, and right after that, they released a Leopard Graphics Update. They’re always vague about what the software updates fix, but hopefully they fixed this one while they were at it. I’ll have to see if this problem still shows up after installing these updates.

OMG, you have MSN on your dock.
What’s that green alien guy?
I don’t like the fan. I have the dock on the right, so it always gives me stacks instead for Apps/Docs/Downloads.
green dude is Xee the image viewer. It’s what I use instead of iPhoto.
I have the same problem and the update don’t solve the problem.
I don’t believe that resetting the PRAM and NVRAM is the solution.
If you have the solution let me know.
Thanks.
Hey dude, I’ve got the same problem. It seems like it’s solved updating that Leopard Graphics thing in Software Updates.
BTW, I really like your background, I want it. :_
