Jonbu the baker

i’m so slow

Weekly update

It’s my Friday blog again. I looked in the mirror and saw two eyes full of veins, but I need to finish this before going to sleep, so I went to sleep and finished this the day after.

A chip

If you’ve ever seen “Serial Experiment Lain”, you might remember a scene where Lain’s mom opens the door, receives a package, sends the postman off in the polite Japanese manner, opens up the packages, sees a little IC chip, and licks her own lips in anticipation. This was about 4 years ago, and at the time, it just seemed over the top. Who gets pleasure from an IC chip? They never explained what the chip was for.

I haven’t installed mine.

Dinner

While grocery shopping today I had bad luck and went into a line served by the newbie cashier. Everything was extremely slow so I had time to notice that the mother of two in front of me had the exact same type of Sunflower Mastercard I have. Which made me realize that, this particular design might have been targeted at moms. Neat. There were other designs like the Beach (for the vacation hungry) or Black Globe (for commerce students).

The cashier was a mess. For every item that doesn’t have a barcode (like a chunk of ginger), she types in random numbers that shows up INVALID. She’ll try a few other ones until she gets it right. As long as the machine beeps, she’s happy. I thought, I’m a patient guy. I can do this. Broccoli showed up as “Brussel Sprouts”, so I told her its wrong. She doesn’t know how to undo, so we had to wait for the neighbouring pro-cashier to come and help when she had a moment. Carrots showed up as “Celery Sticks”. I said nothing.

Taiwanese beef noodle takes at least an hour to cook, prep time extra. And there’s so many ingredients that goes into the pot. That’s why I don’t do it often. I was just gonna make some curry today, but then the company cafe served curry for lunch. So I felt the need to make something else. My noodle always turn out with a low soup level. Because the more soup you want, the more [various sauces, but basically soy sauce] you’ll need. I use short-ribs. They remain tender even without a master cook.

Dinner

I liked this picture because of the Honey Nut Cherrio in it.

Spider Man 3

It’s good not because it’s an action movie. It’s good because of the characters and acting. It’s on-par with the second one. Also saw the trailer for “At World’s End”. Pirates are so cool.

Oh right, I have to pluck weeds.
