Book: “Tuesdays With Morrie”

I had a very, very short to-read list. “Tuesdays With Morrie” was the only book on that list, and it’s there because more than one person recommended it. I picked it up last week, started reading it Sunday, and finished it in one sitting (it’s not that big). I’ve never finished anything in one sitting before, which doesn’t say much about me, but it says more about the book. It’s good.

The book can be slightly cheesy if you don’t get into it, but if you do, it’s full of things worth thinking about. Nicely written. Interesting.

It’s a non-fiction novel, which I didn’t know when I picked it up. I thought it was weird to find a novel in the non-fiction section of the library. I also caught up with quite a few movies from the library. I like our library.

It’s a bit disappointing that these supposedly life-changing books doesn’t have much of an effect on me personally. I was back to my old self in no time.

Now to find another book to read.

Time and Space

I feel like I’ve wasted a Friday afternoon doing nothing. Best to put out a blog before I sleep tonight.

I want to share with you someone’s theory on Time Perception.
Over a team lunch, someone old and (possibly) wise explained, a year’s time will only feel shorter as you age, because it’s shorter relative to your lifetime. So in my words, for a 2-year-old, one year is a long time. It “feels” like half a lifetime. For a 50-year-old, a year is short. It’s only 2% of what he has experienced though his lifetime.

The guy has a point. But I don’t want years to feel shorter. There’s something off about that theory. but I can’t put my finger on it. The worse thing is, I actually do feel that a year is shorter than it was when I was a kid, in the same subtle way that buildings and rooms used to be bigger.

Can sleep now.

Mysterious buds

Buds

Now that it’s getting warmer, I want to find a good book so I can read outside on weekends. Some well written fiction would be nice. And it’s so much cheaper than buying a laptop so I can blog outside. No, I’m not serious.

Picture of driveway taken yesterday. This tree in front always drop amazing stuff. It makes nice kouyou in the fall. Right now I don’t know what it’s dropping. What I know is I might have to start raking them soon.

Drawing of a bread

A piece of bread I drew for the favicon. You get to see it now in higher definition. Sort of like buying an HDTV after watching standard all your life.

Plus it’s the first picture here to use Shirley’s Wetfloor Plugin.

Told you I’m a baker.

I finished playing “Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, The”

After everyone has had a chance to say how good it is, it’s finally my turn.

It’s good. play it. It took quite many hours that I was planning to blog about it before finishing the game, but I finished it before getting around to writing. I clocked in a bit more than 40 hours, which means I missed about 30 hours worth of side quests (fishing.. bug catching..)?

Some thoughts and then that’s it:

  • A lot of creativity went into the game. My favorite segment is the Ice Monster.
  • The Midna sound reminds me of Windows booting up.
  • Did Link ever said a word in this game? I think he borderline did.
  • It felt like 2-3 Wii games folded into one. Good bang for your buck (not mine, I borrowed from Steve).
  • How long will it take for another game to top this?
  • A gamepad could’ve worked better for this game.
