Jonbu the baker

The show is great. I watched 3 episodes back-to-back today, and still can’t get enough of it. There’s something about a cool guy yelling angrily that makes it good. It has worked out for all of Al Pacino’s movies too.

I was at Guu with Garlic last night (delicious, but the portions seem to be shrinking), and when I was ordering this happend:

Me: “Ton-Toro”
Waitress: “PonnChi?”
Me: “Um.. “Ton toro sio yaki?”
Waitress: “PonnChi?”
Me: “What is ponchi?”
Waitress: “We have the English name in the menu”

Then we flipped to the place and it says “Ton-Toro”.
I wonder if it’s related to the ponzu dressing.
I ordered gyu-tongue too, and she also confirmed it with some weird name totally different from what’s in the menu.

I was so confused. It made me feel like I know nothing about the Japanese language.
