i was driving through a school zone this morning and began thinking how i’m not a kid anymore. 10 years ago i’d be walking to school seeing people drive by slowly. now i’m the driver in the car (except i’m driving a bit faster than 30km/h).
the world hasn’t changed all that much but my world has changed.
it reminded me of a discussion i once had with a guy i met at ubc:
is it the flag that moves or is it the wind?
( gotta think like a university student here.. even tho practically they both move )
the question makes you think in circles because you can’t see the wind moving.
a good answer would be, who cares?
and that’d be the right answer. because it’s really your perception that moves.

other things on my mind:
sony practically played “me-too” and released a new line of mp3 players today. They look ugly. I like it better when sony used to put out cool stuff that no one wants to afford. Now they’re just putting out ugliness that’s slightly affordable. it’s like they refuse to sell good designs cheap.
(those beans they released few weeks ago are cute tho. i was gonna blog about it)
Sony did release a good camera today. It’s the first non-dslr to have a dslr cmos sensor. So it can take dslr-quality pictures, and do live-preview (cuz it’s got no mirror). and it takes cf ^_^. it cost as much as a dslr tho (old habit).
=== skip here if above still too boring ===
oh another thing i was gonna blog about:
i had a chance to drive the mercedes E-class this past Monday. Dad’s friend was here to visit, and asked me to take him used-car shopping, in the ride he’d prepared - the shiny grey-black ?E320?
It’s not a special sight. Mercedes are everywhere in richmond (seeing jon driving one is a sight tho). Obviously he doesn’t know how I drive, and he doesn’t know my road sense.
We came back in one piece, maybe with slightly shakened passengers. I couldn’t tell. He’s a guy that’d hold good composure, and his kid in the back probably had no idea what kind of edge-of-life experience he just went through.
Conclusion: It’s too smooth. you feel like someone had ripped away your living room, wrapped it in sponge and put two pairs of wheels on it. Stepping on the gas pedal is like stepping on cloud. The acceleration is silent.
Anyways I wouldn’t trade my toyota for it. Well, I would. Then i’d sell it and buy a new toyota.
I’m always happy when I find that I like cheaper things other than the fact that they cost less.
