Mimble

My brain is not processing the fact that tomorrow is my last day at Sanyo. It thinks it’s too absurd.
(Woah, google’s theme of the day is “Earth Day”, and it has a cute fish on the logo.)

I’ve been coming to this office and spending the majority of my days here for 11 months now. This is the longest of any commitments I’ve ever made of any kind. Classes were never this long, previous jobs were never this long. Hobbies, interests, projects were never this long. And there’s no wind-down. I’ve been coding till yesterday.

It’s like a meteor is about to hit earth on the other side of the globe, and I probably won’t feel the chain-reaction until a while later (unless, of course, the meteor is much bigger than earth, and it shatters everything instantly).

I packed a box of goods to follow, but my room is still full of scattered items. By the end of the weekend, I should at least have an empty floor, so I can take down my strapped camera. Better yet, let’s set the deadline to “tonight”. Since I need to take my camera down anyways for Friday and Saturday.

Jony suggested that I should try to eat caf breakfast at least for the last week. Eating breakfast stretches the days longer and makes you feel better throughout the day. So far I’ve missed 4 breakfasts this week, and tomorrow is the last chance. I wonder if I’ll manage to try the Caf-Obaasan’s Scrambled Eggs with Miso Soup and Rice, one last time. It will be a wholesome, comfortable way to end my days here. Everything should end the way it begins. (I just realized, my meal card stops working after today.)

I wonder if this will be my last entry. Not a grand finale I’m afraid, but appropriate. I plan to write a final-wrap up tomorrow, but that may meet the same fate as my un-eaten breakfasts.

My boss just came over and checked up on what I’m doing. “Email?” “Yes yes, I’m emailing.” He doesn’t seem to mind. I don’t seem to mind. We both know my work here is coming to an end. He also said he’ll take me out for administrative tasks as soon as I arrive tomorrow at 8:45, which means I can’t be late. Not this time. Not that I want to be late. Not on the last day. (And I was never late when it all began.)

Jonbu burnt a CD of everything I wanted to take with me from this work computer. The most important thing in it is the daily report. First entry dates back to June 2, 2003. Reading it rekindles the surreal feeling when I first stepped into this office. Everything will be surreal again, when I step out of Japan.

(What is Mimble?)

Mt.Room

I only have 2 days of internet left. My connection will be cut on Friday, which means I really should be writing more lj, since there won’t be anymore until I get back to Canada (or have too much time in TW). My camera is strapped to a fixed point in my room to document my room’s evolution from the stone age to civilization, so I can’t really take pictures and update on the new Doramon toy I got. Now there’s one good motivation to finish cleaning up my room.

Here’s an animated progression of my room, from start to 20% done.

Haha, I just watched it myself. It looks the same doesn’t it.
(Gee, I don’t know if I can show the whole thing at the end. It’ll be such a big file.)

midnight snacking

Nap -> Cannot sleep -> Sit in front of computer -> One Yugart Hi-chu -> Two Yugart hi-chu -> open namacha -> open spicy chips -> eat 4/5 bag of chips -> (namacha is really good) -> namacha keeps me awake -> write some lj -> three yugart hi-chu -> four yugart hi-chu -> (go sleep, dude) -> finish off namacha -> left hand stops right hand from grabbing hi-chu -> right hand knocks right brain unconcious ->

And this is how i spend my valuable time in japan.
