Jonbu the baker

i’m so slow

irresistible Mr.P

The Namacha Panda is basically designed by cutting a wedge out of a sphere, and adding a cylinder as the body. My first namacha panda is tiny. I got it for free, from drinking a warm namacha.

Hm, its probably lost somewhere on my messy desk…

… ok its still there.

I’m sure he appeals to different people for different reasons. But for me, he reminds me of the Taiwanese Pork Meatball that we use in soups. Some people make one deep cut into the meatball before putting it into the broth, and after boiling, the ball expands and becomes pacman shaped.

I can’t think of a good example in western cooking. I guess if you heat up hot dog wieners, they expand. and if you’re in a hurry, you’d put them in microwave oven and set it to high, and the wiener would surely explode. it’s kind of like that.

Today I was at the Gifu Station Loft at around 2pm, and I saw this giant namacha panda. To make an 5 hours long story short, I bought it after my 3rd visit in one day.

I’m sure the store put it out as a joke, as you can see from this picture, there’s only one big panda, and its there to attract customers to the smaller pandas.

Of the three hours that I stood there staring at Mr.P, no single person checked the price on the giant panda. I was his only friend.

At around closing time (7pm) when I brought Mr.P to the cashier, the cute cashier girl couldn’t resist her laugh. She’s so innocent with that smile, but who knows what she’s thinking. the rough cashier girl beside the cute one looked annoyed. “this guy, he bought our display bait doll,” her expression says.

Now he’s sitting in my room, enjoying the fresh air without that suffocating plastic wrap.

Meet my new friend, Mr.P.
Just looking at him makes me smile. The money is all worth it.

Yay, don’t need a username. Anyway, I bet every staff in the store knew of your obsession and had a bet going. The result was that the cute girl won, thus the happy giggle, while the rough one lost, thus the “i want to dice you up” look. :-) Yes, if 3-sen yen can buy you a smile everytime you look at him, it’s worth it. :-) You should’ve struck a conversation with the cashier though - maybe this panda would’ve brought you other happiness too. haha. -Alex
